About COMBATIVE FIGHTING SYSTEMS
Combative Fighting Systems is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu academy on Burgess Rd in the Black Forest area of Colorado Springs, led by Ken Gabrielson - one of the "Dirty Dozen", the first twelve non-Brazilians to earn a BJJ black belt, and the first American to receive the coral belt. He took his black belt under Reylson Gracie in 1993, opened the original Combative Fighting Systems in Orange County, CA in 1995, and moved to Colorado in 2014 to open this academy with his sons. Two of them, Chris and Ken Jr., are black belts and teach alongside him; all three are career firefighters, and the school runs a kids programme as well as adult classes, open weekday evenings 5:30-8:00 PM.
