About Vonnora Muay Thai
Vonnora Muay Thai at 111 Lincoln Square in Urbana, Illinois bills itself as the only authentic Muay Thai gym in the Champaign-Urbana area, running multiple daily classes for a range of ages and experience levels. Its retired head coach Nilahn Vannarath was born in Thailand's Isaan region, started Muay Thai at five, had over 150 fights before turning eighteen, and has trained alongside 8x world champion Coban Lookchaomaesaitong, UFC fighter Spencer Fisher and Bellator champion Dan Hornbuckle. Current head coach John Boland teaches the all-levels class and private lessons Monday to Friday; he began training with Nilahn in February 2022 and now competes in national tournaments and amateur promotions.
