About Japan Karate Association of Brooklyn
The Japan Karate Association of Brooklyn, founded in 1972, teaches traditional Japanese Shotokan Karate-Do and is affiliated with the Japan Karate Association and Shotokan Karate-do International. All classes, including the beginners' course, are taught by chief instructor Sensei Shu Takahashi, 7th dan, who is SKDI chairman, a member of the JKA Shihankai and its international board, and has studied under Sensei Mori since 1963. Training follows the classical kihon, kata and kumite structure, with a month-long beginners' course starting every month and ranking examinations every three months.
