West Coast Jiu Jitsu on Broughton St in downtown Victoria bills itself as Vancouver Island's premier submission grappling gym, running four to six classes a day across gi, no-gi, women's-only jiu-jitsu, wrestling and Muay Thai kickboxing, with an in-house weight room included in membership. Kids gi classes run three times a week for ages 5-8, with gi three times a week and no-gi once a week for ages 9+, plus an all-ages kids wrestling class on Fridays and a kids competition team. Head coach John Kutz has trained since 2011 and was promoted to black belt by Don Whitefield in July 2022; the wrestling program is a registered BC Wrestling Association club and the striking program, Dascalu Muay Thai, is a member of Muay Thai BC.
