About Bruno Martial Arts

Bruno Martial Arts is a deliberately small one-instructor school run by John J. Bruno out of the Sun Outdoors Sarasota Fitness Center at 7125 Fruitville Road, Sarasota. Its single group class is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Over 35, a gi and no-gi basics class capped at ten students and aimed at busy professionals and older hobbyists who need to train without injury, with sparring kept optional; Bruno also teaches private lessons in BJJ, Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do concepts, Filipino martial arts, boxing, kickboxing and self-defense. Bruno is a BJJ black belt under Roy Harris, has been a certified grappling instructor under Harris since 2004 and started BJJ in 1996, and states plainly that he is not building a martial arts business and does not teach to make money.
