About ARENA JIU-JITSU
Arena Jiu-Jitsu on Av. Senador Souza Naves in Cristo Rei, Curitiba was founded in 1996 by Mestre Evanri Gurgel, who had begun teaching jiu-jitsu in the city at the AABB in 1989 when the sport was still almost unknown there. Formed directly by Grão-Mestre Álvaro Barreto, himself a student of Hélio Gracie, Gurgel built the Metodologia Arena around fundamentals, structured transitions and defensive principles, running classes from Kids to Master across Iniciante, Intermediário and Avançado levels.
