BJJ in Newtown

Newtown carries one listing — and it is one of the most stacked multi-discipline academies in the entire Philadelphia metro. Newtown Performance Institute (NPI) in Bucks County is anchored by Head MMA Coach and Director Eddie Alvarez, the first fighter in history to hold lightweight titles in both UFC and Bellator, with a career spanning UFC, ONE Championship, and BKFC. The BJJ program runs four black belts deep: Head Adult BJJ Coach Leandro Hernandez is a 1st-degree black belt under Ricardo Almeida (Renzo Gracie network) with 25 years of martial arts experience including pro MMA, kickboxing, and IBJJF tournament competition; Julien Banner is a black belt under Bruno Tostes with 15+ years of no-gi-focused experience and U.S. + Australia coaching credits; Randy Nesbit is the Head Youth BJJ Coach with a Muay Thai and wrestling background; and Eric Reyes is a 1st-degree black belt with 20+ years of training. The boxing program is led by Ray Robinson, a 4-time welterweight titleholder and Team Combat League champion. The Sambo program is anchored by Head Sambo Coach Bob Clark — a FIAS Master Level 1 Certified Coach and Head Coach of the USA Sambo National Team — alongside 2025 USA Sambo National Team coach Arthur Parshyn.
