About Southside Academy of Combat
Southside Academy of Combat on Logan Rd in Underwood is a 300-member multi-discipline gym running Muay Thai, boxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Silat Perisai Diri, ladies-only classes and a Kids Fight Academy covering boxing, MMA and BJJ, with 24/7 strength and conditioning gym access included in every membership. The BJJ program covers structured fundamentals - takedowns, positions, submissions - through technical drills and live rolling, with a pathway to competition, and Sunday open mats. Head coach Mas Taufan Mwaradi has over 25 years in martial arts, was the 2025 Australian National Coach at the WMO World Muay Thai Championships in Bangkok and is Australian Technical Coordinator for Silat Perisai Diri; BJJ is led by Professor Anker Fuglsang, a 3rd degree black belt.
